glitzernder schnee
glitzernder schnee
knisternder schnee
nicht kaltweiß sondern
regenbogensprühend
über die dinge
hingebreitet
bis an die weißhäuptigen gipfel
am rande der welt
liegt die
stille
wenn du nur hinschaust
wenn du nur hinhörst

Regenbogenbotschaft
Regenbogenbotschaft
Innen leuchtet rot die Liebe,
dann orangerot die Kraft,
sonnengelb die Heiterkeit,
Hoffnung schimmert erdengrün,
meeresblau verströmt sich Friede,
Weisheit wölbt sich indigo,
Glaube krönt sie violett:
Regenbogen will uns blühn,
will uns eine Zukunft weisen
und die Ewigkeit verheißen!
Schon verhangen, schon vergangen,
doch die Seele bebt noch froh…

This poem, Rainbow Message, is spiritual but not bound to a certain religion. I hope it radiates serenity and confidence, as the rainbow does.
It is published in the calendar, Münsterschwarzacher Bildkalender 2024 (circulation 80.000) with the photo above. (Photograph: Albrecht Fietz via Pixabay.)
For verse from a colourless winter world, see the recent post, A Speck in the Dark, where a few flashes of colour and light provide the magic of beauty and hope.
Remember November
Remember November
Eight times the leaves have paled,
been plucked and swept away,
eight times the sun has waned
and steeped the days in grey;
eight times the loom of spring
has woven rainbow rugs,
eight times made blackbirds sing
between the bursting buds;
eight times the fruit has swelled
and, in its turn, the fog,
eight times the frost has quelled
the sap’s impatient throb –
Eight years my heart has found
its breath and path in you;
eight years it’s watched your mouth
for words as warm as true.

This anniversary poem goes through the seasons, with a focus on autumn. You could change the title and the number of years if you want it for your own anniversary, perhaps even swap the lines, starting with spring.
