The Power of Poetry — Die Macht der Dichtung
My name is Christina Egan. I live in Tottenham, London, England. I write poetry, lyrics, plays, and more in English and German.
I have written several thousand poems in the course of my life, and I keep writing. This site is a project to make 1,000 of the best ones available. You will find 650 poems here by the beginning of 2025.
Half of the texts are in German and half in English, with plenty of them given in two language versions, also a very few texts in French.
Literature is a language surpassing language; poetry has the power to change the world. To hear more, click above, on POETRY, PLAYS, and PHILOSOPHY.
To find poems, you can search or browse in the following ways at the right-hand side of each page:
- type words into the search-box;
- click on Recent Posts
- click on Themes to get a certain topic or type of verse;
- click on Tags for topics not found in Themes;
- click on a month in Archives to get a motley mixture, including texts relating to the season.
Use and share my poems freely, as long as you credit me with my name and do not make a commercial gain. Above all, poetry is for reading, reading aloud — and enjoying!
If you are interested in publishing my poems, performing my songs, or producing my plays, we can get together; have a look at AIMS. Perhaps my texts could enhance your calendars or greeting cards very soon?
Viel Freude beim Lesen! Lesen Sie auch laut — es lohnt sich!
